The Longest Night

My chest aches, and I can’t breathe
I long to have a short reprieve
I long to fix this wretched mess
How long before there’s nothing left?
There’s nothing good inside of me
Rejection bleeds, and I can’t see
I’m blind and naked, through and through
You’re through with me, I pray for you
My throat is dead, my song is dry
My insides gnash from soulful cries
I’ve wept and wept and wept again
The longest night that never ends

Shattered hopes and scattered plans
